McDonald's-USHLI Series of Student Leadership Summits Continues in Minneapolis, MN
McDonald's and USHLI continued its 2014 series of Student Leadership Summits in Minneapolis, MN.  The event, held at Roosevelt High School, was attended by approximately 1,300 students, teachers and counselors.  Students from Wellstone International High School and El Colegio Charter School also attended.

The event featured two nationally prominent motivational speakers, Carlos Ojeda and Ernesto Mejia from CoolSpeak, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair. The Career and College Recruitment Fair featured a Study Lounge sponsored by McDonald's, where students received useful information on scholarships and preparing for college.  Thirty-seven (37) recruiters representing post-secondary institutions at every level participated.

Mr. Oscar Binder, a local McDonald's owner/operator, addressed the students as well. USHLI is very grateful to Mr. Michael Bradley, the Principal at Roosevelt High School, and the entire team at Roosevelt High School for their leadership and invaluable assistance, and to McDonald's for its generous sponsorship of this series of Student Leadership Summits. Complimentary apple slices and water were served.

The SLS is USHLI's flagship youth program.  The program is designed to motivate students to improve their academic performance, graduate and pursue some level of post-secondary education.  An estimated 74,415 have been served to date this year in 12 states.
