McDonald's-USHLI Series of Student Leadership Summits Continues in Miami, FL

McDonald's and USHLI continued its 2014 series of Student Leadership Summits in Miami, FL.  The event, held at Miami Senior High School, was attended by approximately 1,800 students, teachers and counselors. The event featured two nationally prominent motivational speakers, Carlos Ojeda, Jr. and Ernesto Mejia from CoolSpeak, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair.  The Career and College Recruitment Fair featured a Study Lounge sponsored by McDonald's, where students received useful information on scholarships and preparing for college.  Seventeen (17) recruiters representing post-secondary institutions at every level participated.  Complimentary apple slices were served.     Ms. Yoyi Rodriguez, a local McDonald's owner/operator, addressed the students as well.  USHLI is very grateful to Dr. Lawrence Feldman, ViceChair of the Board of Education; Mr. Alberto Carvalho, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public School District; Dr. Albert Payne, Central Region Superintendent; the Principal Mr. Benny Valdes, and the entire team atMiami Senior High School for their leadership and invaluable assistance.  USHLI also appreciates McDonald's generous sponsorship of this series of Student Leadership Summits. The SLS is USHLI's flagship youth program. The program is designed to motivate students to improve their academic performance, graduate and pursue some level of post-secondary education.
