Former San Antonio Mayor & HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros to Address Corporate & Community Leadership Awards Dinner

Mr. Henry G. Cisneros, Chairman of the CityView companies, will be the featured speaker at the Corporate Community Leadership Awards Dinner.  The dinner will be a main event at the 33rd USHLI National Conference, which will be held February 12-15, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Over 6,000 present and future leaders representing 40 states are expected to attend.

Mr. Cisneros will address the Corporate Community Leadership Awards Dinner at 7:00pm on Friday, February 13.  The Cesar E. Chavez Community Service Award, the Hank Lacayo Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Willie Velasquez Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented at the dinner.

Mr. Cisneros is committed to creating homes within the price range of average families.  To date, he has partnered in building more than 60 communities in 13 states, incorporating more than 7,000 homes, and been inducted into the "Builders Hall of Fame" by the National Association of Homebuilders.

Mr. Cisneros served three terms as a City Councilmember and four terms as Mayor in San Antonio, TX.  In 1986 he was selected as the "Outstanding Mayor" in the nation by City and State Magazine.  As Mayor he served as President of the National League of Cities.  After completing his 4th term as Mayor, he formed Cisneros Asset Management Company, which ranked 2nd as the fastest growing money manager in the nation.

In 1992, President Clinton appointed Mr. Cisneros to be Secretary of H.U.D.  As the President's chief representative to the nation's cities, he personally worked in over 200 U.S. cities in each of the 50 states.

After leaving HUD in 1997, Mr. Cisneros served as president and chief operating officer at Univision Communications, and currently serves on Univision's Board of Directors. He has served as Deputy Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and is currently an officer of Habitat for Humanity International, Chairman of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, a member of the advisory boards of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Broad Foundation, and Chairman of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Cisneros holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Texas A&M, a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University, a Doctorate in Public Administration from George Washington University, and has received over 20 honorary doctorates. He also served as an infantry officer in the United States Army.
