Approximately 100 Attend
Distinguished Speaker Series At Colorado State University |
An estimated 100 students, faculty and administrators attended the Distinguished Speaker Series that featured USHLI President Dr. Juan Andrade. The series was sponsored by the Diversity Resource Center at Colorado State University in Pueblo. It was an honor to be invited to participate in this Distinguished Speaker Series and a great opportunity.
In his remarks Dr. Andrade focused on three points - dreamers in history, servant leadership, and motivation. The event was part of USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS).
The SLS is USHLI's flagship education program for students, parents, and educators. Our goal in 2014 is to serve 200,000 students, parents, and educators in 30 states and help in Creating a Culture of Education. The program is designed to motivate students to improve their academic performance, graduate and pursue some level of post-secondary education, motivate parents to provide the leadership needed in the home, and improve the cultural competencies of educators. An estimated 61,975 students, parents and educators have been served to date this year in 10 states.
The SLS program focuses on Stay-in-School Rallies for middle school and high school students, Career & College Recruitment Fairs, Regional Leadership Summits for college students, Leadership Training for parents, and Professional Development for educators.
