100 Professionals Attend Student Leadership Series Event in Texas |
An estimated 100 principals and district executives attended a Professional Development session as part of USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS). The event, for middle school and high school principals at San Antonio ISD (SAISD), was held at the Burnet Learning Center. USHLI is very grateful for the leadership and cooperation provided by administrators at SAISD and this great opportunity. The featured speaker was LTC Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch (Ret.), the matriarch of the top Latino motivational speakers in the nation and a favorite among students of all ages, educators and parents. The SLS is USHLI's flagship education program for students, parents, and educators. Our goal in 2014 is to serve 200,000 students, parents, and educators in 30 states and help in Creating a Culture of Education. The program is designed to motivate students to improve their academic performance, graduate and pursue some level of post-secondary education, motivate parents to provide the leadership needed in the home, and improve the cultural competencies of educators. An estimated 59,378 students, parents and educators have been served to date this year in 10 states. The SLS program focuses on Stay-in-School Rallies for middle school and high school students, Career & College Recruitment Fairs, Regional Leadership Summits for college students, Parent Involvement Workshopsfor parents, and Professional Development for educators.
