USHLI National Conference Will Offer 1st Fitness Boot Camp

USHLI is pleased to announce plans for its 1st Fitness Boot Camp to be held during its 33rd National Conference at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. The Fitness Camp is scheduled from 7 - 8am on Saturday, February 14, on Level I.   The Fitness Boot Camp, sponsored by Herbalife, will be conducted by Cortez Hicks, Certified Personal Trainer, and Coach Erbey Solis. Nutritious beverages and protein bars will be provided to all Boot Camp participants. The Fitness Boot Camp will be offered exclusively to USHLI National Conference participants who are advised to bring their workout clothes and shoes and to RSVP Here. The forum is scheduled from 10:15-11:45am on Saturday, February 14, during our 33rd National Conference at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. The forum will feature a high caliber panel including Dr. Teresa Ramos, Medical Director II at BCBS of IL, professional fitness trainer Saran Dunmore, and María Ruiz Méndez, president of the Latino Students' Wellness Program, a wellness and healthy living focused student organization at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN.    USHLI is pleased to have BCBS of IL as the sponsor of this forum, which continues to draw considerable interest from our conference participants. #USHLIConference Announces Corporate & Community Leadership Award Recipients!

USHLI is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2015 Corporate and Community Leadership Awards Dinner, which will be presented at 7:00pm, Friday, February 13, at our 33rd National Conference. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 E. North Water Street in Chicago, IL.  Receiving the Cesar E. Chavez Community Service Award will be Ivelisse Estrada, the Senior Vice President for Corporate and Community Relations at Univision Communications.  In her role, Ivelisse and Univision have impacted the Latino community through empowerment initiatives including citizenship and voter registration, coordinating philanthropic contributions, and improving academic achievement. In her own right, Ivelisse has earned a Bachelor's degree from Barnard College and Master's degrees from Harvard University and Princeton University. Photo by Betty Lieb Receiving the Hank Lacayo Lifetime Achievement Award will be Major General Angela Salinas (Ret.). MG Salinas enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1974 and earned her commission through the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1977. After 39 years she retired in 2013, having commanded at every rank from Lieutenant to General Officer, and earned distinction as the longest serving woman in the history of the Marine Corps, the senior ranking woman in the Corps, and the highest ranking Hispanic in the Corps.  And, receiving the Willie Velasquez Volunteer of the Year Award on behalf of the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) will be Lucinda N. Pueblos, Executive Director of School Renewal K-12 . The 6th largest school district in California, SAUSD has a student population of 56,000 of whom 95.5% is Latino. The SAUSD Leadership Team has enabled USHLI to reach 23,000 students in SAUSD middle schools and high schools and represents the caliber and quality of partnership USHLI is striving to create in every state. Mr. Henry G. Cisneros, Chairman of the CityView companies, will be the featured speaker. Over 6,000 present and future leaders representing 40 states are expected to attend over the three and one-half days. 20 Students to Receive Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders

Twenty graduating high school seniors and college students will receive scholarships at the USHLI National Conference, which will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. One thousand dollar scholarships will be awarded to each of the 20 recipients. The $20,000 for scholarships are the result of a partnership between the Ford Blue Oval Scholars program and USHLI's Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders.
